SAN ANTONIO (November 4, 2015) – Presented by the San Antonio Automobile Dealers Association, the 47th annual San Antonio Auto & Truck Show rolls into town opening on Thursday, November 19, through Sunday, November 22, at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center. Recognized as the premier automotive event in South Texas, the show features the auto industry’s newest innovations and provides visitors a one-stop shop for evaluating the latest cars, trucks and technologies.
The San Antonio Auto & Truck Show continues to garner increased attention from the automotive manufacturers, the media and the public as well. In addition to a full line-up of major automotive company exhibits, including the exotic car companies such as Lotus and Rolls Royce, among others, this year the show welcomes back Porsche, Maserati, Mercedes-Benz, Jaguar and Hyundai to their ever-growing list of exhibitors.
The special sneak preview for the media will be held on Thursday, November 19, beginning at 8:00 a.m. through the opening of the show at 2:00 p.m. The Media Morning will feature press conferences presented by the major automotive manufacturers as well as the announcement and presentation of the 2016 Green Truck of the Year and the inaugural 2016 Commercial Green Car of the Year awards.
The Green Truck of the Year™ nominees include the Chevrolet Colorado Duramax, Ford F-150, GMC Canyon Duramax, Nissan Titan XD, and Toyota Tacoma. Vying for the 2016 Commercial Green Car of the Year™ award are the Chevrolet City Express, Ford Transit Connect, Mercedes-Benz Metris, Nissan NV200, and Ram ProMaster City.
New special exhibits will make their debut in 2016 including the Aftermarket Expo, an entire hall dedicated to the ever-popular automotive aftermarket segment. Car aficionados who love to personalize their rides will appreciate this new addition to the show. And that’s not all! The San Antonio Raceway, home of the fastest quarter-mile in Texas, will debut their new exhibit featuring an exciting array of racecars including super-fast dragsters. Located right in front of the Convention Center, Ford and Toyota will provide test rides to show visitors.
On Saturday, November 21, the third annual San Antonio Area Chevy Dealers College Challenge will take place at the Chevrolet exhibit where students from UTSA, Trinity, OLLU, Texas A&M San Antonio, Incarnate Word and St. Mary’s will take part in a friendly competition pitting school against school. Students will race the clock as they try to fit the most “student bodies” into a Chevrolet Sonic. Be sure to come on down to cheer on your favorite school!
Becky Hammon, assistant coach for the San Antonio Spurs, international basketball All-Star and two-time Olympian, will appear at the show on Saturday, November 21, from 1:00-2:30 p.m. Hammon is the first female full-time assistant coach in NBA history.
The Kids Fun Zone, powered by KidVenture, provides lots of games, a driving track and kid-sized cars for children to enjoy. The Kids Fun Zone will be open on Saturday and Sunday only.
Tickets are available online and at the door. Ticket prices are $12 for general admission, $8 for seniors (62 and older), active duty and retired military, and $4 for children 6-10. Children five and younger enter free.
